August 13, 2020

Dear Parents and Guardians:

At its July 21 meeting, the Board of Education approved a return to school with our fully remote learning plan, at least through Friday, October 2. The link to our Fully Remote Plan, which is in the Academics section of our website, is available here:

We are always excited to start a new school year—and this year is no exception! Our first day of remote instruction will be Monday, August 17. We will also have an alternative schedule this day to start our year. Students will complete some orientation modules in Canvas that will introduce them to their principals, provide them with important information regarding student expectations, and provide some Canvas and Digital Citizenship training.

Also on Monday, students will have the opportunity to meet their teachers by following a shortened bell schedule in online meetings. Specific information regarding the schedule for Monday’s activities, along with the instructional schedule for the rest of the first week, is being sent to our students and families by Mrs. Bertola and Mr. Parrott this week.

Regardless of the instructional platform (fully remote, blended, fully in-person) that we may be using at different times of the school year, we are committed to maximizing the growth and achievement of every student through rigor, support, and innovation.  We believe in the principle that “we are in this together.” We are committed to hold all students to high academic standards, build positive and supporting relationships, create engaging learning experiences, support social and emotional needs, embrace the responsibility and accountability to our community, and emerge from this pandemic stronger than we began.

Thank you again for your ongoing flexibility and support as we work together to prepare for the 2020-21 school year.

John P. Ahlgrim, Ed.D.
