GIRLS BADMINTON CUPID SHUTTLE

The girls badminton program will be hosting the Cupid Shuttle on Wednesday - Valentines Day. What better way to express your love than to come play a game of badminton. BOYS TENNIS INFORMATIONAL MEETING

Any boy interested in Boys Tennis tryouts, must attend the preseason information meeting on Tuesday, February 13 from 3:30-4pm at the O'Plaine Cafeteria. Tryout, practice, and season information will be shared at this meeting. COLLEGE FAIR FIELD TRIP

We are taking interested WTHS Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors to a college fair on March 12 at Waukegan High School’s Brookside Campus. This annual fair is hosted by the National Hispanic College Fairs and the Career Council. Those who attend will have the opportunity to visit with over 50 colleges and universities and learn more about their admission requirements, academic programs, student and campus life, financial aid, athletics and more! This fair is free of charge, but space is limited. If you’re interested, pick up a permission slip from the Guidance Secretary at Almond or O’Plaine. Signed permission slips are due back to the Guidance Secretary by March 5 or until space allows. (Hartley)

 

HISTORICALLY BLACK COLLEGES & UNIVERSITIES SPRING BREAK COLLEGE TOUR

Are you interested in exploring Historically Black Colleges & Universities? Waukegan Township is hosting their annual Spring Break HBCU College Tour from March 24 - 31. Potential schools to be visited include Spelman, Morehouse, Clark Atlanta, Alabama A&M, Fisk and many more. If you’d like more information, families are invited to attend an informational meeting on Feb. 14 or 21 from 5:30 – 7:00 pm at the Waukegan Township Supervisors Office, located at 149 S. FILIPINO AMERICAN STUDENT ASSOCIATION

The Filipino American Student Association is hosting a movie day at the O'Plaine Room 223B on Valentines Day, February 14 from 3:20 to 4:20. We will be watching She’s Dating the Gangster, starring our favorite Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla. Please join us and bring a friend. (McElvain)

 

TABLETOP GAMING CLUB

Gamers, drop by the O'Plaine Library on Monday after school from 3:20 to 5 pm and play some games, socialize and help finalize our t-shirt and hat design for this year. All alignments and armor classes welcome. There are no late busses as it turns out that THEY were the werewolves all along! (Harkins)

 

SUPERNATURAL CLUB - HAUNTED LOVERS

Join Supernatural Club on Tuesday, February 13 to hear tales of Haunted Lovers throughout history. We will also share any pictures or videos you send us of paranormal activity. See the Student bulletin in your email to send your media to Miss Vignaroli. We will meet in room 205 from 3:20 to 4:10 pm, and will provide late bus passes if you need them. SOFTBALL TRYOUT INFORMATIONAL MEETING

Any girls interested in trying out for girls softball this spring should attend an informational meeting on Thursday February 15th in the O'Plaine Cafeteria by the windows at 3:30. We will go over requirements needed to tryout as well as the tryout schedule. Please try to register online before this meeting. Late bus passes will be available. Masks! Carnival games! Music! Beads! What is it? It’s Mardi Gras! Come join French Club in celebrating Mardi Gras on Tuesday, February 13 in the Blue Devils Den at the O’Plaine campus. POST-SECONDARY EXPLORATION PRESENTATION FOR FRESHMEN 2/15

Freshmen…Unsure of what you want to do after high school? Are you overwhelmed by the thought of it? It's not too early to begin your exploration process! Start NOW by attending this beneficial presentation on Thursday, February 15 at 7:00 pm in the O’Plaine Auditorium. Post-secondary options and helpful resources will be discussed so you can feel confident about your next steps and shine your light bright upon graduation! The evening will also include a panel of WTHS Seniors who will answer your questions and share tangible tips and advice on balancing high school while planning for the future. All current WTHS freshmen and their parents are highly encouraged to attend. Hope to see you there! (Hartley)

 

WORK PERMIT

Are you manifesting your crush right now? Almond SOS is having its annual Valentine's Day Teddy Bear fundraiser, today through Tuesday. LOCAL SCHOLARSHIP WORKSHOP

Who LOVES money for college? I know we all do! Seniors & Junior Early Grads, come spend your lunch today, Friday, to learn about our local scholarships offered to you! In our annual iHeart Scholarships Workshop, we will show you how to access, submit and earn these scholarships in Maia Learning. The workshop is offered during the “A” portion of periods 3-6. FEBRUARY EXCHANGE CLUB SCHOLARSHIP

The Exchange Club of Gurnee sponsors 6 Youth of the Month $400 Scholarship Awards. Deadline is the end of each Month, which for February is Thursday 2/29. A paper application needs to be turned into the Student Services Secretary. (Maggiore)

 

ATTENTION SENIORS

As a part of our graduation ceremony, we traditionally invite all interested seniors to compete for an opportunity to deliver a speech to the graduating class. If you are interested, you can find an application on the WTHS website on the graduation page. Please submit your application and recorded video of your speech no later than Monday, April 1, 2024.
