CREATIVE WRITING CLUB

Creative Writing Club meets THIS THURSDAY in O'Plaine room 221, at 3:15pm. Late bus passes are available and new members are always welcome. See you there!  (C. Thomas)

 

INDUSTRY SPEAKER SERIES

Are you an effective problem solver and communicator? Can you demonstrate physical and mental endurance? Do you like working with your hands, fixing things and seeing the results of your work? If this sounds like you, and you don’t mind math, then attend our next Industry Speaker Series with a Licensed Professional Plumber. This period-long-workshop is on Thursday, January 26 (6th period at Almond and 8th period at O’Plaine) in the College & Career Center at the respective campuses. Interested students are to report at the beginning of the period and stay for the duration. In Illinois, Licensed Plumbers can make as much as $108,000, per year with a starting salary of about $48,000. By attending, students can expect to gain knowledge about the industry, job outlook, responsibilities, required training/education and practical advice and tips. (Hartley)

 

SUPER SHOW

Come support Warren talent as they perform in Super Show this Friday, January 27th at 7 pm in the O’Plaine auditorium! Super Show is Warren's annual cultural and talent showcase and is a great opportunity to celebrate the diversity here at Warren. Tickets should be purchased through the Warren website. (Stewart)

 

GIRLS WATER POLO

Any girls interested in joining the water polo team this spring, there will be an informational meeting today at 3:30 in the observation deck (by the pool) at O'Plaine. Open pools will be starting on Thursday 1/26, at 5:30am. If you are interested, but not sure if this sport is for you, or if you have questions please contact Coach Wright (cwright@wths.net).

 

SPRING SPORT REGISTRATION IS OPEN

Spring sport registration is now open. In order for you to participate a parent or guardian must register you online (https://warrentownship-ar.rschooltoday.com/) and you must have a current physical on file in the nurse's office. Go to the Athletics page of the WTHS website and click on "Spring Sports" to find the requirements for trying out, season start dates, and the link to online registration. (Pier)

CAMINO A COLLEGE

On Thursday, February 2 we are hosting our annual Camino a College presentation at 7 p.m. in the O’Plaine Auditorium. This presentation is entirely in Spanish for our Freshmen and Sophomore Spanish-speaking families. Presentation topics include: Preparing for college, starting your college search, locating scholarships and other resources and how to enhance your college applications starting now! If you are considering college, there’s no better time than now to start your planning. We hope to see you there! (Hartley)

 

TEMPORARY ID’S

Please be advised that temporary ID’s will only be issued before 3:20. Any student who needs a temporary ID should stop by the Attendance Office during their passing period, study hall, or lunch period. Students are allowed three free temporary ID’s per semester. New ID’s cost $5.00. (Dean's Office)

CEC BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT MEETING

The long-awaited return of the CEC Basketball Tournament is coming up! If you are interested in helping to coach CEC basketball teams, please come to our informational meeting on Thursday, January 26th at 2:25 pm in Room 320. You do not need to be athletically-inclined or knowledgeable to support our teams. Just the basics! Please come join the fun! New CEC members welcome. See you after school on Thursday for more info! CLC APPLICATION HELP

SENIORS! Are you thinking of taking classes at CLC at some point this summer or next year? Then plan to stop by the College and Career Center during the “B” portion of your lunch period (3-5 only) on Friday, January 27th to complete your application! Bring your Chromebook and Social Security number (if applicable) to apply and learn the next steps. It only takes about 10 minutes and the earlier you apply, the better! Our CLC rep, Quinnlyn Meadowcroft, will be available to answer your CLC specific questions. See you there! (McGahan)

Seniors! Need help completing your FAFSA, CSS Profile or the Illinois Alternative Application to find funds for college? Confused about your financial aid award letter from your college and have questions? Our next workshop is Thursday, January 26th from 6-8pm.
