BSU SPIRIT WEEK!

HBCU day is here! Tomorrow the Black Student Union is hosting a black history trivia during all lunch periods! If you see us, stop by our booth and test your trivia skills on Thursday!  (Pulec)

VEGAN CLUB

Strap on your aprons and load your spatulas for the Vegan Club's annual vegan cupcake wars! The Vegan Club's Cupcake Wars will take place this Thursday, February 13, after school at 3:25, in room 234 at the O'Plaine campus. All are welcome to come try some vegan cupcakes. SPANISH NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY APPLICATIONS

Sophomores and Juniors in honors Spanish- we are now accepting applications for induction into Spanish National Honor Society. You may pick up an application for membership from the main office at O’Plaine or from Spanish teachers at Almond. Completed applications should be turned in to the box at either main office and are due by Friday, February 21st. (Lerner)

BADMINTON FUNDRAISER

Hey Sweethearts! Come out to the O'Plaine gym on Friday, Valentines day, from 3:30 to 6pm and play a game or two of badminton. Games will be $2. Win or Lose you are guaranteed a prize! If you have questions see any badminton player or coach! (Heimstead)

WARREN WELLNESS AMBASSADORS

Warren Wellness Ambassadors will be meeting this Thursday at 3:20 in the conference room across from the main office at the O’Plaine Campus. Snacks will be provided! New members are always welcome! (Tragarz)

SPRING SPORT REGISTRATION

In order to try out for a spring sport you must be registered online AND have a current physical on file in the nurses' office. The registration link is on the Athletics page of the Warren website. Tryouts for most sports begin Monday, March 2. (Pier)

MECS MEETING

There will be a MECS meeting today at 3:20pm in the O'Plaine Lecture Hall. The mayor of Gurnee will be presenting on the EtO concerns in the community. Hope to see you there and bring a friend. (Boncher)

RED CROSS CLUB

Hello Red Cross members! Our Next meeting will be all about CPR! We'll be learning how to perform CPR and how to use an AED. It'll be a fun and interactive meeting. We'll see you today at the O'plaine Campus in room 213 from 3:20 to 4:00 pm. There will be free food, so come and bring friends. (Dalrymple)

Fun Fact: One city in Japan, Nagano, has a resort where you can interact with wild snow monkeys, who soak in their own hot springs. To learn more about the culture and traditions of Japan, join International Club TODAY from 3:20-4 pm in the O'Plaine faculty cafeteria. Join us for food, fun, and more! IHEART LOCAL SCHOLARSHIP WORKSHOP

Who LOVES money for college? I know we all do! Seniors, come spend your Valentine's Day lunch with the counselors in the CCC to learn about our local scholarships offered to your class! We will show you how to access these scholarships in Naviance, provide tips for writing the scholarship essay and obtaining supporting documents like an official transcript or letter of recommendation. The workshop is offered during periods 3-6. Please attend the presentation held during your lunch period or study hall and feel free to bring your hot or cold lunch. You will also need your Chromebook as this is a working lunch. (McGahan)

FINANCIAL AID WORKSHOP FOR SENIORS

SENIORS! Still need to file a FAFSA or ISAC’s Alternative Application? Our Illinois Student Assistance Commission rep, Chebriah Nelson, will be in the CCC during periods 3-6 on Thursday, February 13th to assist students in completing their intended application. If applicable, please bring your 2018 tax return information during your lunch period. We can help you get started! (McGahan)

ALMOND VALENTINE’S DAY TEDDY BEAR SALES

Almond Students of Service is holding its annual Valentine's Day Teddy Bear Sale during lunch periods from Tuesday until Thursday. Buy your special someone a bear and have it delivered to their first hour class on Valentine's Day! (Hanlon)

Attention Seniors-All graduating seniors are invited to compete for an opportunity to speak at the Commencement Ceremony. If you are interested in making an address at Commencement, an application can be picked up from Mrs. Timan in the Principal’s office, room 204.
