The 102nd Commencement Ceremony for the Class of 2019 will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates. A graduation ticket is required to enter the arena. The ceremony will begin promptly at 11:00 a.m. Doors will open to the public at 10:00 a.m. Graduates must report no later than 10:00 a.m. Graduates must enter the arena through entrance #11 on the east side of the arena. There is adequate seating available for all guests with a ticket, as well as adequate handicapped/disabled seating. We ask that only one family member accompany those requiring handicapped seating, which is located on the main floor so no elevators or stairs are required. The ceremony should last approximately two hours. For any additional questions regarding the facility, please call the Sears Centre Arena at 847-649-2222.
The general rule is formal business attire. Ladies should wear a dress or skirt/dress slacks and blouse. Dress shoes/dress sandals with a low heel are suggested (no flip flops or gym shoes). Gentlemen should wear a dress shirt (tie optional), dress slacks, and dress shoes (no sandals, boots or gym shoes). Students who arrive in blue jeans, shorts, gym shoes, flip flops, t-shirts, or other inappropriate clothing will not be allowed to participate in the ceremony. Students will be required to pass by the deans with open gowns to demonstrate appropriate attire as they start the processional. In addition, only those items distributed by Warren Township High School should be worn or displayed on the cap and/or gown. The only items distributed by Warren Township High School which are allowed to be worn at the ceremony are honors chords (NHS, Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude and Summa Cum Laude) and the commemorative medallion handed out to the graduate candidates at graduation practice. You will be asked to remove any items not distributed by Warren Township High School.
Attendance at graduation ceremonies is optional for graduates; however, if a graduate chooses to participate, the graduate agrees to observe all rules and policies and be in accordance with the school rules as defined in the Student-Parent Handbook. All school rules do apply. No student will be allowed to participate in the ceremony that has not completed all of the graduation requirements.
Each participating graduate will receive eight (8) tickets this year for family and friends to attend the ceremony. Graduates will not need a ticket to enter the arena. Also, children under the age of two who will sit on the lap of an adult will not need a ticket. We will not be offering the opportunity to request extra tickets above the allotted eight (8). If graduates are in need of extra tickets, we ask that they communicate with other participating graduates who may not be using their allotment of tickets. Tickets will be distributed at cap & gown distribution on Thursday, May 16, 2019.
