FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS

Our Blue Devil Football team has advanced to the second round of IHSA playoffs.  Come out to support our guys take on the Raiders from Bolingbrook on Saturday, November 8 at 7:00 p.m. in the O'Plaine Stadium.  All students and staff must purchase a ticket on GoFan for the IHSA playoff games.  Let's cheer on our team as they play to advance to the quarterfinals and pack the stands of this last home game of the year. GIRLS GYMNASTICS

Any girls interested in trying out for the team should have their current physical on file, registered on arbiter, and bring their signed waiver to tryouts on Monday, November 10th. If you need a waiver please email coach Kovac for one. (Kovac)

FRENCH CLUB

Get ready to say “Bonjour” to fun!  National French Week is here and the French Club invites you to 2 days of magnifique activities.  Join us in Room 308A at the O’Plaine campus from 3:20-4:10pm today, Wednesday, Nov. 5 for a scavenger hunt and work with a team to be the first to complete a series of tasks.  On Thursday, Nov. 6 bring your creativity and make faux stained-glass paper crafts.  Supplies are limited; please sign up using the QR code on the flyers posted in the hallways. BOYS LACROSSE INFORMATIONAL MEETING AND OPEN GYM

Attention Boys Lacrosse: Are you interested in playing lacrosse this spring? Come check out the fastest game on two feet, TODAY, WEDNESDAY, November 5th from 3:30-5:00 in the O'Plaine Field House. NATIONAL FIRST GENERATION DAY

Did you know that over 50% of all college students are considered the first in their family to earn a Bachelor's degree? On Saturday, November 8th, we celebrate and honor the perseverance of our Blue Devil First-Generation students as they pave the way for future generations in their family. BOYS WRESTLING

Juniors and seniors, there will be a mandatory pre-season meeting this Thursday at 2:30 in room 153. If you cannot attend please email coach Janecek for updates. Also, all wrestlers continuing with open mats should already be registered for wrestling and have an updated physical. If you do not have an updated physical on file, you cannot participate. OPEN MIC NIGHT

Come to Warren's first Open Mic Night this Friday (11/7) from 6-8 in the Black Box Theatre and check out the 6 acts performing.  Tickets are $3, available on Go Fan.  There will also be a bake sale accepting cash only.  Hope to see you there! (Knutson)

 

O’PLAINE CAMPUS

FRENCH WEEK AT LUNCH

French culture is just north of us in Quebec, Canada. A delicious specialty from this Francophone province is "poutine." [poo-TEEN] Imagine hot fries with gravy and cheese curds. Sound good? Try the Blue Devil's take on this regional delicacy with fresh mozzarella at the cafeteria Grill Line at lunch! Interested in more traditional French food? Try a chocolate croissant at breakfast with whipped cream and chocolate drizzle. These French and French-Canadian dishes are available this week in the cafeteria. Bon Appétit! (Vignaroli)

AFTER SCHOOL CONCESSIONS

After school concessions are open from 3:15 - 4pm for after school activities.  There will be grab & go foods, snacks and drinks available. (Isaacson)

SOPHOMORE TECH CAMPUS PRESENTATION

Please note an important change to your schedule this Thursday. Instead of reporting to your 1/2 period study hall, you must report directly to the auditorium to attend a presentation about the Tech Campus.

FIRST-GEN COLLEGE & CAREER PREP WORKSHOP

ALL FIRST-GEN FRESHMEN and SOPHOMORES are invited to attend the next First-Gen College & Career Prep Workshop on Thursday, November 6 during 5th period in the College & Career Center, located in room 258. Plan to arrive on time at the start of the period - attendance will be taken and excused. If this is your lunch period, grab your lunch first! (Hartley)

U.S. MARINE CORPS LUNCH PERIOD VISIT

Representatives from the United States Marine Corps will be in the café during all lunch periods on Wednesday, November 5. Stop by their table if you would like more info or have questions! (Hartley)

FRESHMEN BOYS BASKETBALL TRYOUTS

All freshman boys interested in trying out for basketball need to be registered with the athletic office and have a current physical on file. ALMOND CAMPUS

LETTERS TO SANTA HAVE ARRIVED!

HO HO HO! It's time to play Santa again and fulfill the wishes of the grade schoolers of Jordan Community School in Chicago! Look for the distribution table outside the cafeteria starting this week. Once you take a letter you are committing to purchasing, wrapping, and labelling a $30-$40 gift for a child who is living below poverty level. For some of these children your gift is the only one they will receive this holiday season. You have a couple weeks to get the gifts and turn in is before Thanksgiving Break. Help make a child's dream come true! (Desiron)

POWER OF NETWORKING CAREER WORKSHOP

Have you wondered about how to land that big interview?  Curious how to build your resume and ask key questions?  Visit the CCC during period 2 or 3 on Thursday, November 6th to meet with a representative from Chase Bank to give you the inside scoop about networking and career success! COLLEGE PLANNING FOR JUNIORS PRESENTATION

Juniors! November is a great time to start thinking about planning for your life after high school.  If you are ready to learn more and start visiting college campuses, then plan to attend our annual College Planning for Juniors presentation on Thursday, November 6th at 7:00 p.m. in the O'Plaine Auditorium.  We will welcome two Admission representatives from Carthage College to present to students and families on the college search process. For families unable to attend, we will email resources the next day. Contact your counselor or Mrs. McGahan with questions. (McGahan)

CAP AND GOWN / ANNOUNCEMENT ORDERING PACKETS

Jostens will be at the Almond Campus on Monday, November 10, during all lunch periods to hand out cap and gown/announcement ordering packets.  Please stop by the Jostens table outside of the cafeteria during your lunch period to pick up a packet.  Extra packets will be available in Room 204 and at the front office reception desk if you do not pick one up on November 10. Jostens will return to collect orders on Tuesday, November 25. (Kirk)

Juniors! Are you looking to take a FREE, digital, practice ACT or SAT leading into the spring testing season? Or maybe compare your previous practice scores to an ACT or SAT score?  For college admissions, it’s all about strategy, so if you would like to hone your skills, plan to register for the upcoming November digital practice tests through Compass Educational Group.  Check your Warren email for upcoming Junior events for the registration link or see your counselor or Mrs. McGahan for help.
