Families
Here are some frequently asked questions about our school:
Q: Who do I call for ____?
A: Visit our contact page.
Q: What is Powerschool?
A: Powerschool is where parents can check grades and attendance, and can mark students absent for school. Powerschool is accessed by clicking on the Family Apps button on top of the website or by going to https://powerschool.wths.net/public/
Q: What do I need to graduate high school? What does it mean to be “on track”?
A: We consider “on track” to mean a student is passing 5 classes per semester, which will accumulate 5 credits each year.
: Where are the school rules and expectations found?
A: In the Student-Parent Handbook.
Q: Is there a supply list for students?
A: No, we do not have a list of supplies for students to come with on day one. Students should get the supplies that they know they will need for themselves (for example, organizational preferences like folders, binders, notebooks, writing utensils, and an assignment notebook). Teachers will review with students any required materials for their specific course during the first days of school. Math classes may need a particular calculator. Teachers give students a reasonable amount of time to get any required materials needed. It is different for each teacher. Chromebooks are provided to all students by WTHS and it is expected that students bring their Chromebook charged to class.
Q: Where do buses drop and pick students up at O'Plaine?
A: Bus information is listed on each student schedule. If you have any questions about buses, you can direct them to our transportation department. When students arrive in the morning to the O’Plaine campus, their buses drop them off at the A-2 entrance of the building (Middle-East Side of building--facing O’Plaine Rd.). Students load the buses at the end of the day on the same east location and some buses in the north lot. Buses stay in the same location every day, so it is easy for students to load their buses.
Q: Where should parents drop and pick students up at O'Plaine?
A: Parents must use the south lot before and after school to drop off or pick up their students. The north lot and bus lane are used before and after school for buses. During the school day parents may use the north entrance to drop off or pick up students, as this is the only entrance/exit that should be used.
Q: What is the daily schedule?
A: Bell schedules are found here.
Q: Where should parents enter the O'Plaine building during the school day?
A: The North Entrance is our single point of entry during the school day. Security checks in all visitors on the north end during the school day. If you are entering the building you will need an ID.
Q: Where should students go if they are arriving to O'Plaine late?
The attendance office is located in our Welcome Center down the hallway past the security desk. Please enter the north entrance and report to the Welcome Center if you arrive late or a student needs to leave early.
Q: What is the process for when a student needs to miss school? How do I submit the absence?
A: Visit our attendanace page here.
Q: How do lunches work?
A: All students have half a period lunch during periods 3-6 in the cafeteria. Students have a study hall for the other half of that period. Whichever is listed first on your schedule first is where students report first.
Q: How can my student pay for lunch?
A: Cash, Credit Card, and Debit cards can be used in our lunch room. Also, parents can place money on their students ID and will then have access to view purchases made. Warren uses Wordware for its online payment platform.
Q: Is breakfast provided for students?
A: Students will be able to purchase a la carte items in the cafeteria each morning.
Q: Can I order food and have it delivered to school?
A: Family members or guardians are the only people authorized to deliver food for students. We do not accept any deliveries from restaurants or food delivery services.
Q: Is there a list of activities and clubs to join at Warren?

Q: Is there a bus for O'Plaine students to get to Almond for sports/activities practices?
A: Yes there is an activity bus that runs from O’Plaine to Almond each day. The bus leaves the South End (Pool Entrance) of the O’Plaine campus each day around 3:45 PM.
Q: What academic supports are available?
A: We have a testing center open all periods and after school for students to make-up assessments. Students report directly there during lunch or full study hall and need their Warren ID. We also provide after school study tables on Tuesday and Thursdays in the library. Students can arrange time to meet with teachers during their available off periods. Click here for more information on academic resources.
Q: When can my student go to the library?
A: Students can access the library before school each day. Students that have a study hall on their schedule can go directly to the library without a pass to work alone or with other students. Access to the library may be limited based on the number of students that attend. Students need their Warren ID to scan for attendance.
Q: What should I do if my chromebook breaks?
A: Students can get a loaner chromebook until their chromebook is fixed. Stop by the tech department on the second floor before school or during a passing period to get a loaner chromebook.

Q: How can I see my counselor/dean/social worker at O'Plaine (Student Services Team)?
A: Come to the main office and see Ms. Ellis in Student Services to set up an appointment. Before/after school or during a study hall are good times to do this. Click here to complete a meeting request.
Q: Do I need to have my Warren student ID each day?
A: Yes. Students need to have their Warren ID on them each day and we suggest taking a picture of it and keeping that on your phone as well. Students need to show ID’s on their buses, testing center, library, and can load money on them to use in the cafeteria. Students will get ID’s on the first day of school.
