The 2021 Summer School format for all classes will be in-person following current district health guidelines, with the exception of Health for incoming 9th grade students which will be a self-paced online remote course. The Summer School format may change as determined by recommendations from the CDC, Illinois Department of Health, the Lake County Health Department, and district administration. Should the format change due to new recommendations, this page will be updated and families will be notified. All remediation classes will be available for a maximum of six weeks in a self-paced, in-person model. Students enrolled in remediation courses will receive their schedule, which will include the times of the day their class(es) meet and their room number, the week prior to the start of summer school via email. Advancement classes will be offered in-person and will be six weeks in length. Times and dates for Advancement Courses are available in the Summer School Packet. Health will be a maximum of five weeks in length and will be asynchronous self-paced instruction. The dates for summer school are listed below. In a fully remote setting, incoming 9th grade students will be issued a Chromebook. Details about Chromebook pick-up will be emailed to families. Registration will be first come first served and will be done with a Google form. Registration will begin on Monday, January 11 at 8:00 am.
Summer School Annoucements
Enrollment for summer school remediation classes will close on Friday at 12:00 noon. Please check PowerSchool over the weekend for class times and room numbers. Students who request transortation after Wednesday, May 26 at noon will be expected to find their own transportation until communicated with by the transportation department.

Incoming 9th Grade Health Orientation
Students enrolled in the Incoming 9th Grade Health course will have an in-person orientation on June 7. There are two sessions of the orientation and families have received an email communication indicating when the student should attend.
Students will be expected to follow safety protocol by wearing a mask, maintaining physical distancing and washing hands.
During the time the student is in the building for the one day orientation, they will pick up their Chromebook, will meet their teacher, will be provided with details about the course and teacher availability, and will begin their coursework. Teachers will also answer any questions the students may have and help them organize their pacing of assignment completion so that they have a solid understanding of their timelines.
Transportation will not be provided, so please plan accordingly. Students should be dropped off and picked up in the south parking lot.

If your Chromebook is malfunctioning and in need of repair you can swap it for a loaner device at the O’Plaine campus security desk M-Th from 7:30AM to 3:30 PM.
