National Honor Society

National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to recognize those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character.  These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1921.

Interested Candidates

NHS is looking for members who can maintain a GPA of 3.6 or higher, and are involved in multiple activities with the school and out in the community.  During students' Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior years, students should keep track of all the activities they are involved as well as contact information of the coaches and coordinators.

Application Process

Students with a GPA of 3.6 or higher will receive an application to apply for NHS during Spring of their junior year.  Eligible students will need to completely fill out the application and provide an essay outlining their accomplishments.  Next, administration and faculty will be asked to provide recommendations for each applicant.  Finally, the NHS Faculty Selection Committee will evaluate the applications and feedback in relationship to the standards established by the NHS National Council.  The Committee will follow the NHS Application Rubric when evaluating the applications.

Students will then receive a letter by mail with the committee's decision.

If students are accepted into NHS, they are expected to attend the NHS induction ceremony which occurs in March or April.
