Summer School Information

2025 Summer School - Almond Campus

Registration will begin on January 27, 2025 at 7:30 am.

The 2025 summer school program includes fees
- EL/ACHIEVE: Grant funded and there is no cost for these courses
- Advancement courses: 1 semester advancement courses are $150 and 2 semester advancement courses cost $250
- Remediation courses: $150 for a 6 week session. All remediation courses may be refunded upon successful completion of the summer school program

Overview

All courses will be in person on campus. Course delivery is dependent on the following criteria:

Course Type

All courses for advancement will be in-person on campus and may be teacher led.
Courses that require additional support such as EL and ACHIEVE will be teacher led.
Remediation courses will be in person on campus and may be teacher led or offered through a self-paced computer based curriculum. Additional criteria apply to these courses.

Highly Qualified Teacher Availability

Advancement and Remediation courses will be teacher led when there is a highly qualified teacher available.
Courses will be computer based when a highly qualified teacher is not available.

Enrollment

Courses that do not meet the minimum enrollment may be offered through a computer based curriculum.

All remediation classes will run for 6 weeks and students must complete at least 0.5 credits of coursework within the 6 week timeline to earn credit during the summer school term. The summer school term counts towards eligibility for athletics and clubs for the following school year. Most advancement courses will run for 6 weeks, Monday through Thursday, for 2.5 hours per day and will be in-person. Should Health classes by asynchronous, the district will communicate such prior to the beginning of the summer school program including the date for a mandatory, in-person, on campus orientation. Geometry for Advancement is a 6 week course that follows the summer school calendar, for 5 hours a day and is in-person.

Incoming 9th grade students will be issued a Chromebook during summer school health orientation.
Registration will be first come first served.

- Remediation Courses: Remediation courses cost $150 per 6 week session and if applicable $250 for 2, 6 week sessions. All fees for remediation courses may be refunded upon successful completion of their summer school program. Specifically, the student must complete 0.5 credits and follow the attendance policy. If a student misses more than 6 hours of class for any reason or does not complete their course, the student will not be refunded their fee.
Transportation - District transportation is available
- Three Weeks: $60
- Six Weeks: $105

Location

All summer school and extended school year services are currently scheduled to take place at the Almond Campus.
The Transition program will be located at the Transition Center at the O'Plaine Campus
Summer roof repair at the O'Plaine Campus require classes to relocate to the Almond Campus to ensure student safety.

Sessions

6-Week Sessions	June 9 - July 17 Period 1 - 7:15 - 9:45 Period 2 - 9:45 - 12:15	Remediation and advancement classes are in-person on campus and need to be completed by July 17 at 12:15. Remediation courses are in-person and on campus, and may be computer based or teacher led. Remediation courses that are computer based will be led by an interventionist teacher. Teacher led classes will be taught by a teacher licensed in the subject area. Advancement courses that are in-person on campus and teacher led by a licensed teacher. Please refer to the packet for details.
Health	June 9 - July 17 Remote and Self-Paced - Teachers will be available for 2.5 hours per day to assist students. Depending on teacher availability and enrollment numbers, this course may be offered as an in-person, on campus, teacher led course and will be offered at either 7:15 - 9:45 or 9:45 - 12:15. The start date for Health is subject to change based on the middle school graduation dates for incoming 9th grade students.	In-Person Orientation for the Health class is tentatively scheduled for June 9. It will meet at the Almond Campus and there is no district offered transportation for the orientation. Times will be sent to families individually, but will be between 7:15 and 12:15. The orientation and start date is subject to change based on middle school graduation dates for incoming 9th grade students.
Geometry for Advancement	June 9 - July 17 7:15 - 12:15	In-Person, on campus, and teacher led for 5 hours per day.
College Knowledge	Session 1 - June 9 - June 10 (9:45am - 12:15pm) Session 2 - June 9 - June 10 (12:45pm - 3:15pm) Session 3 - June 11 - June 12 (9:45am - 12:15pm) Session 4 - June 11 - June 12 (12:45pm - 3:15pm)	In-Person, on campus at the Almond College and Career Center. College Knowledge is a workshop for rising seniors who are interested in attending college that focuses on applications, application essays, interviews, letters of reference, scholarships, FASFA and other college application processes that will help prepare students. $50 materials fee.
