2020-2021 Course Selection Process
The course selection process is unique to each grade level and each campus. Please review the information below specific to your grade level. Students are encouraged to explore the Curriculum Guide for a complete list of our course descriptions.
Our 8th Grade Course Selection nights are scheduled for the first Tuesday and Wednesday in December from 5:30-8:00 p.m. at the O'Plaine Campus. Information will be emailed home the first week of November regarding these nights. Families are welcome to come to either night. It is not necessary to come to both nights, simply choose one. If your family did not receive an 8th grade mailing, please contact our O'Plaine Campus Registrar, Christy Thedorf (firstname.lastname@example.org), to be included in our Powerschool system for future mailings. Families should review the Freshmen Course Opportunities Worksheet for more information.
Beginning Wednesday, November 20th, students will meet individually with their counselor on a specified day with their English class to select their courses for the next school year. It is highly advisable to prepare for this meeting in advance by reviewing the Sophomore Course Opportunities Worksheet. Please discuss your selections with your parent or guardian prior to your meeting.
Beginning Friday, November 1st, students will meet individually with their counselor on a specified day with their English class to select their courses for the next school year. It is highly advisable to prepare for this meeting in advance by reviewing the Junior Course Opportunities Worksheet below. Please discuss your selections with your parent or guardian prior to your meeting. Additionally, please review the Sophomore Course Selection Presentation, which addresses important topics about course selection.
On Monday, November 11th, the Almond Counselors will be visiting the Junior English classes to walk through the course selection process. Students will enter their 2020-2021 course requests into PowerSchool on this day. Students will be receiving the course opportunities worksheet below in their English class the beginning of November. Students will then individually meet with their counselor during their U.S. History class on a specified date in January to verfiy their course requests.
