School Within a School (SWS)
-
Students who have tested two or more grade levels below their grade level in reading and are not receiving English language services, or special education services will be placed in the School Within a School program their freshmen year. The School Within a School classes are similar to the standard program. Students earn the same credit for these classes, however, the difference is that all students will be taught by a core team of four teachers (English, Social Studies, Science, Reading), and all students will have one of reading class for their elective. In the sophomore year, students who would benefit from and additional year of reading support take English II Intensive, as well as Sophomore Reading Readiness as one of their elective courses.
